Day 1 :

Arrival in Arusha

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Meet your team and transfer to your Arusha-area lodge for rest and a full trek briefing. Confirm kit lists, review the Mount Meru elevation profile, and settle in for an early start.

This arrival night is included so you begin the mountain fresh and organized. Meals: bed and breakfast.

Day 2 :

Momella Gate to Miriakamba Hut

Transfer into Arusha National Park and begin at Momella Gate (about 1,500 m). Trek through open grasslands and montane forest watching for buffalo, warthogs, and colobus monkeys, passing landmarks such as the Fig Tree Arch.

After roughly 5-6 hours, arrive at Miriakamba Hut (2,514 m) with views toward Kilimanjaro and Meru crater cliffs. Dinner and overnight in the mountain hut. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day 3 :

Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut

Shorter but steeper ascent through forest into moorland. Pause at Elephant Ridge for crater panoramas and possible elephant sightings, then continue to Saddle Hut (3,570 m) for lunch and rest.

Feeling strong? Optional afternoon hike to Little Meru (3,820 m) for sunset views and better acclimatization before the summit bid. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day 4 :

Summit Day to Socialist Peak

Summit push starts around 2:00 AM. Ascend to Rhino Point (3,800 m), follow the narrow ridge toward Cobra Point (4,350 m), then final meters to Socialist Peak (4,566 m). Sunrise views can include Kilimanjaro, the ash cone, and the Rift Valley.

Descend carefully to Saddle Hut for a hot meal and recovery sleep. The ridge beyond Rhino Point can close in ice or strong wind; discuss options with your guide if you have vertigo concerns. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day 5 :

Descent to Momella Gate

Descend through moorland, grassland, and forest with continued wildlife chances such as giraffe and monkeys. Enjoy parting crater and plains views before arriving Momella Gate in the afternoon.

Transfer back to your Arusha lodge for a hot shower and well-earned rest after the summit effort. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner / lodge BB as indicated.

Day 6 :

Departure or Safari Extension

After breakfast, airport transfer for your departure flight, or continue with a customized Tanzania safari extension. Your Mount Meru hike ends here, but the alpine ridge, wildlife forest, and crater views stay with you.
